What medium did you use? It almost looks like water paint. The over simplicity of the flower was beautiful on it's own but if you wanted it to look picture perfect there needs to be a few things. Gradual transitions between dark and light (usually the out most edges are light with a dark lining - you can achieve dark thin lines by applying light pressure to the tip v. pressing it down and creating larger lines [like you did for the center of the flower]) *that comment was mostly for the closest petals*
Remember that every element you add to the picture- petals, dots, pollen everything has both shadows and highlights.
Using the black to lightly trace over bits of the flowers helps to bring the flower out of the picture but be careful not to over do it unless that is the effect you are looking for.
I can't think of any more general tips, but like I said the picture of the flower is beautiful as is but you wanted some tips so I hope it helps

It works verry well for me..It's handy that you can mix it with water..so that you don't need much paint and you can use it in combination with aquarel.
oh my god this just completly shames my painting of a flower. this is just wikid, i hate u. sorry i get a bit envy when i meet someone that is better than me. u use Gouache so good and for a first time well.
